    POS Shows 4-year Progression with graduation requirements by Grade Level:
    Acceptance into the Academy: Students are required to apply to the Seabreeze High School Allied Health Academy during their 8th grade year. Students are selected based on their GPA, extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation.
    1st Year: Students are required to take and successfully complete the
    Medical Skills and Services
    Sophomore - Allied
    course. During this course students will create a portfolio which will count as their end of course exam in which they must pass to move on to the next level. Part of this end of course exam is to complete 10 hours of observation under a medical professional and write three journal entries on 3 unique experiences they had during their 10 hours.
    2nd Year: Students are required to take and successfully complete the
    Health Science Anatomy and Physiology
    Junior -
    course. The prerequisite for this class is Medical Skills and Services. During this course students will create a portfolio which will count as their end of course exam in which they must pass to move on to the next level. Part of this end of course exam is to complete 25 hours of observation under a medical professional and write five journal entries on 5 unique experiences they had during their 25 hours.
    3rd Year: Students are required to take and successfully complete the
    Allied Health Foundations
    Senior -
    course. The prerequisite for this class is Medical Skills and Services and Health Science Anatomy and Physiology. During this course students will create a portfolio which will count as their end of course exam in which they must pass to move on to the next level. Part of this end of course exam is to complete 50 hours of observation under a medical professional and write seven journal entries on 7 unique experiences they had during their 50 hours.
    4th Year: Students are required to take and successfully complete the
    Allied Health Assisting 3Foundations course. The prerequisite for this class is Medical Skills and Services, Health Science Anatomy and Physiology and Allied Health Foundations. During this course students will create a portfolio which will count as their end of course exam in which they must pass to move on to the next level. Part of this end of course exam is to complete 75 hours of observation under a medical professional. During the 4th semester the students are responsible for creating a presentation that they will give in front of the entire academy.
    BONUS: Academy gives industry certification: Academy gives Certified Medical Administrative Assistant and Emergency Medical Responder Industry Certification in the 3rd level course

    The students work very closely with healthcare professionals aroundAcademy team planning: During teacher duty days the community. We work closely with Volusia County EMSacademy team meets for those 8 hour days/4 times a year.
    Summer academy workshop or other academy team workshop/conference/seminar: Mark Lebeda
    and Halifax HospitalDaniel Stevens attend the National Athletic Trainers Association Conference each summer. During this time they attend workshops on new medical techniques and the latest research. They get 20 hours continuing education hours.

    Curriculum fair/Orientation night/Open House: Both Mark Lebeda and Brian Eschen participated in Open House during the beginning of

    grade shadowing day we weren't allowedhigh school registration: The director of the academy attends this night to participate due to administration. Insteadhelp anyone who needs assistance in signing up for the academy once they were accepted.
    8th grade shadow day: As per administration this is not allowed but
    we participated in, "Sohost an event named So You WantWanna Be A Sandcrab. This allows students to be a Sandcrab" which was touring (shadowing) of our academies for 8th graderscome out and their parents on Wednesday 1/17, 5:00-8:00speak with current students and the teachers in the academy.

There are also a number of guest speakers after school as well as the opportunity to shadow our two Certified Athletic Trainers at Seabreeze High School.

    75 hours of shadowing of a medical professional. They need to complete 25 hours per the first 3, 9 week sessions. They are required to pick a unique medical professional to shadow each of those 9 week sessions. The fourth year students run a blood drive on campus.
